Celebrating Many Years of Peace – Bell Ringing Ceremony
Every year, Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities and the City of Cupertino come together to host the Bell Ringing for World Peace ceremony in Memorial Park, to commemorate the peace since the bombing of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Toyokawa.
The annual ceremony takes place in Cupertino and around the nation. The date and time were specifically chosen to match when the unfortunate event occurred in Toyokawa in 1945, being August 6th at roughly 6:00 PM.
Bell Ringing for World Peace has become a community event, and continues annually. In 2025, we celebrated 80 years of peace between the United States of America and Japan.
Last Year's Ceremony
We held the fifth annual ceremony on August 6th, 2025, at 6:00 PM to ring bells for world peace. The whole community was invited to join, and more than 100 of them came to honor the peace and strong bond formed between Japan and the United States.
