Student Exchange
Are you interested in becoming an exchange student and travel to Japan? The cities of Cupertino and Toyokawa, Japan established a sister city relationship in 1978. Since that time, student delegations from Cupertino and Toyokawa have exchanged visits to share cultural awareness and experiences. Each year the delegate exchanges have strengthened the bonds of friendship between our communities and our cultures.
All student delegates will be selected from 7th and 8th grade Cupertino Union School District students who attend the informational meeting. Delegates will travel to Japan for one week during the summer, live with Japanese host families, tour cultural sites and learn about Japanese life. Please note: U.S. citizenship is required of all applicants and student delegates and parents are required to volunteer at the Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival on April 28th & 29th, 2012.
The informational meeting will be held around January 2013 for the 2013 delegation. More details will posted shortly.
